Atlantis Hotel Barbados

The historic Atlantis Hotel on the East Coast of Barbados is on schedule for a Christmas reopening.

This comes in the wake of a massive renovation of the property that started in 2008. The hotel features some of the most amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean and has been a mainstay of the Barbados tourism product since the 1970s.

Though ownership of the property has changed hands several times since it was first developed in the 19th Century, the property is part and parcel of the stunning East Coast views of Barbados. The newest owners of the hotel, Andrew & Patricia Warden added this property to their other tourism based properties in 2008.

The renovation will transform the property to a 10 suite hotel.

The restaurant of the hotel became a popular hotspot among both locals and visitors over the years featuring some of the best in Bajan cuisine.  The restaurant will continue as a showpiece for the property featuring new outdoor seating overlooking the Atlantic as well as indoor seating for 120.

It has been reported that the new owners believe, “We are of the opinion that Barbados lacks family-style sea front restaurants and thus the menu will be priced extremely reasonable in order to encourage people, locals and holidaymakers alike, to visit the unspoiled east coast of Barbados and the Atlantis.”

The Hotel is located in Tent Bay, Bathsheba, St. Joseph was one of the first hotels on the East coast. It was made possible by the new railway line to the East coast (Belleplaine), which was completed in 1883.
