Barbados Land Registry digitized

March 17, 2009

There is an updated post regarding the Land Registry’s web site.

The Barbados land registry’s records have been digitized and according to the Nation’s article, work that once took months is now completed in a day.

Barbados is slowly but surely moving into the 21st century. The Barbados government should use this initiative as the poster child for the improvement that can be done in digitizing all other areas of government.

The Land Registry’s web site allows the public to search for land records from the 1970s to the present.

There has been much talk about the plans and progress of the Barbados e-government initiative but unfortunately the land registry’s solution leaves much to be desired from a usability standpoint and also from the standpoint of being kept up to date.

It’s like 2 steps forward by announcing the achievement and 2 steps back by saying, “Hey, we haven’t updated it in 3 years”.
